No doubt you’ve seen a Tesla before … ALL of them come with the ability to self-drive. Well, the Waymo fully-automated taxi company believes you’d like this better … Take a peek at the picture below and is it just me, or are you thinking “Ghostbusters?” The Waymo car can’t leave any of it’s pre-programmed areas without those areas being extensively mapped as it’s not allowed to “think on its own.” On the other hand, there are videos of people driving a Tesla up onto a sidewalk and the car figuring out it doesn’t belong there and looking to get back on the street all the while avoiding pedestrians, and doing it successfully. Also Waymo has to buy cars for its service (why o’ why, would they choose a Jaguar? … as though their software and sensors weren’t bad enough), while Tesla is reportedly producing a new driverless Cybertaxi in less than every 10 seconds or so from the Texas factory, in preparation for its initial takeover of the taxi industry in several cities coming in just a few weeks. The Waymo CEO sounds remarkably like the captain of the Titanic exclaiming it’s unsinkable as it sinks beneath the waves …
